Irish Wrecks
Transforming an archive into an experience with the user interface.

An outdated and unsightly deep-sea diving hobbyist website, Irish Wrecks Online, was in desperate need of a UI overhaul. Requiring a complete re-skin and rebrand, I was tasked with creating a brand new site for three different device viewports.
-
This was a 1-week solo project, whereby I was solely responsible for researching, designing and prototyping a website re-skin and overhaul.

The end product is a website which (hopefully) the user will no longer want to run away from, but instead be invited to dive down and explore deeper. A cursory revision of the site’s navigational features should also ensure that locating specific shipwrecks is a much more efficient process for prospective deep-sea divers.

Multiple Viewports
By using Figma components and auto-layout, I was able to create scalable UI sections, easily applicable across multiple device viewports.

Parallax Scrolling
To give this prototype an extra layer of depth, I used Figma’s Smart Animate feature to mimic a scrolling parallax effect.

Updated Navigation
The original Irish Wrecks Online website had cumbersome and opaque navigation - I’ve given the redesign a modern overhaul with the use of imagery, filters and carousels.
